Outside of being a Social Media/PR Assistant here at JDCommunications, I am also a spin instructor at Rev’d Indoor Cycling in Foxborough, MA. For me, spin is not just about the love of the activity, it’s about the hard work and growth that came with it. A few years ago I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and no longer recognized the woman looking back. I had gained weight and I had lost my “shine.” This is when I decided to make a change. I started taking classes at Rev’d Indoor … [Read more...] about Enjoying the Ride
Game Changers
International Women’s month gives us the opportunity to celebrate women who impact our lives both personally and professionally. From trailblazing women who fought against all odds to the inspirational and brave young women from Parkland, to our own mothers, sisters, and daughters. This list continues to grow. In our PR world, we are privileged to work with incredibly talented female journalists on a regular basis. So it only seems fitting to pay tribute to a few of my favorite “game … [Read more...] about Game Changers
Diaries of a Boston Foodie
Up until a few weeks ago, I would have never considered myself a “foodie” or by its definition: “Someone who seeks new food experiences as a hobby rather than simply eating out of convenience or hunger.” Sure, my friends and I like trying new restaurants and I read a lot online about the Boston food scene, but I guess I thought everyone else was doing the same. However, I was having lunch with a group of peers and we started talking about restaurants we liked in the area. I started listing off … [Read more...] about Diaries of a Boston Foodie
Binge Worthy Shows
With the cold weather here I can finally partake in my favorite indoor activity without feeling guilty - binging a TV series. With the wide array of offerings from Netflix, Hulu, and all the major movie networks streaming services, my time to indulge has finally begun with endless options. Some may call this lazy; I on the other hand, use these shows as a way to escape. Becoming engulfed in a series where for an hour (or more if you binge multiple episodes) you can escape the reality that … [Read more...] about Binge Worthy Shows
Ode to the Christmas Cookie
I have to admit that baking for the holidays was never my thing. When I was a kid, baking Christmas cookies was an all day (or two) affair. My mother was not only a fabulous cook, but she knocked it out of the park with her holiday treats. Her cookies were meticulous – every spritz was perfectly portioned, every fruit-filled cookie had the same amount of jelly, and every butterball was precisely the same size. And, if you’re Italian, you know cookies include pastries, and my mother’s … [Read more...] about Ode to the Christmas Cookie
Mastering the Meal
We all have our ways of disconnecting from the world. For some it is a yoga class, others it is binge watching a Netflix show until they forget all of their problems. For me, it is cooking. I love the entire process from finding a recipe, going to the store, chopping the veggies, and snap chatting the beautiful final product because what type of social media strategist would I be if I didn’t brag about my skills all over my social media? Living on my own right after college, I quickly learned … [Read more...] about Mastering the Meal
A Change of Scenery
September 25th 2015 I made the decision to re-locate my whole life to Albany, NY. As a city-dweller for nearly 8 years, and my whole life in Queens, this was not only a shock to almost everyone who knows me, but also to myself. If you were to ask me in May of 2015 if I would be living in Albany by the year’s end I would have called you crazy. But, things change, opportunities present themselves, even in the result of tragedy, and life changing decisions are made. So…. I found myself in the … [Read more...] about A Change of Scenery
Good Things Come In Small Packages
I didn’t have much PR experience this past spring when I was applying to my first internship. I always pictured myself working for a large agency or in-house at a big PR firm, but after spending countless hours sorting through internship applications, I found myself attracted to smaller agencies. During a phone call with my mom (while venting about the struggles of applying to summer internships), the company name that kept coming up was JDCommunications. It was odd considering how small the … [Read more...] about Good Things Come In Small Packages
The Trip of a Lifetime
During the first two weeks of July, I was given the incredible opportunity to explore Israel for ten days as part of Birthright Israel. For those of you who don’t know, Birthright is a completely free trip to Israel for young Jewish adults (age 18-26), sponsored by the State of Israel, local Jewish communities, and leading Jewish philanthropists. The program sends young Jews from all over the world to Israel as a gift in order to reconnect them with their homeland. I wasn’t really sure … [Read more...] about The Trip of a Lifetime
Comfortably Connected
#Comfortably Connected. That’s the very clever name the team at JDC gave to the chair we created for the recent IFDA New England, “Take A Seat” fundraiser. The chair appropriately paid homage to the world of social media. As marketing/PR consultants, we cheerlead on a regular basis to stay connected - to clients – the industry – publications – potential audiences – “influencers.” Let’s face it. In this day and age, how hard is it NOT to stay connected? Technology has given us the opportunity … [Read more...] about Comfortably Connected
