Outside of being a Social Media/PR Assistant here at JDCommunications, I am also a spin instructor at Rev’d Indoor Cycling in Foxborough, MA. For me, spin is not just about the love of the activity, it’s about the hard work and growth that came with it.
A few years ago I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and no longer recognized the woman looking back. I had gained weight and I had lost my “shine.” This is when I decided to make a change. I started taking classes at Rev’d Indoor Cycling and soon I could feel myself coming back to life. My endorphins were pumping, my skin was glowing, and I had found a home and a release within the four walls of their studio. Every time I clip into that bike, I ironically feel a sense of freedom. It’s like as soon as the music turns on; the rest of the world turns off.
Fast-forward to about a year ago when a good friend of mine, and fellow instructor, suggested I become an instructor myself. I thought: ME? A spin instructor? But once I repeated that question to myself a few times it actually started to sound right; Yes! This is ME, Amy, a spin instructor. That was it, my mind was made up and I set a new goal for myself excited to see where it would take me. Last April, I auditioned and that is when this life-changing journey of mine began.
Over the course of the next few months I became stronger, both physically and mentally in this process, and other areas of my life. It gave me the confidence to leave my day job and pursue my goal of working for a marketing company – and here I am!
Rev’d Indoor Cycling truly changed my life, and I use every class as an opportunity to inspire change in others. Self-confidence, motivation, support, amazing music, a great workout and a community of people rooting for you! What’s not to love?
Never allow your life to just be fine, or okay, or even good; make it brilliant. If there’s something you want, GO AFTER IT.
You only get one life, so make it count. Make it mean something. Make it yours.
